Football provides an adrenaline rush for Dwenger's Tippmann

Some people play football because they are quick and avoid contact. Others relish the opportunity to lower a helmet on an opposing player and turn the game into a battle of wills. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger standout tight end Jack Tippmann is the latter, and has been since he first stepped foot on the gridiron in the third grade. “I’ve just always loved the adrenaline rush of the game. The contact and the physicality, it drives me to keep playing. I’ve always loved the tight end spot. You get to be physical at the line and make plays in the open field. It’s the best of both worlds,” Tippmann told Sideline Prep Sports Report. As a sophomore last year, he rushed for 110 yards and reeled in 101 yards through the air for a Saints team that finished 11-2 and lost 10-7 in the semi state to Valparaiso. Tippman says any success he has achieved is the direct result of support from his teammates, coaches, family and friends. “I have a lot of great coaches around me, who push me to my full potential every day. My family is a big part of my success. They are my biggest supporters and have done so much for me – the countless hours of driving and all the times they have been there for me. My teammates and friends, who push me to be better everyday,” he said. After falling in the semi state last year, Tippmann said Dwenger has a goal of getting to the state championship game this year. “I feel that our team has a great chance this year. We are big, fast and talented. Overall, I think we are going to be a great team going up against great competition. For me, personally, I would like to stay healthy this year and compete the best I can. I would like to make the conference teams, and, maybe, even the All-State team,” Tippmann said. With no offers currently, Tippmann has drawn the attention of Western Michigan University thus far. “I am looking for a school that’s going to push me to better and sharpen my skills. Any school that would love to have me be a part of their team,” Tippman said as to what he’s looking for in a program.
