One point. All the motivation Lutheran High School senior quarterback Blake White needs can be traced to back to Nov. 29, 2019 and the Class A state championship game against Lafayette Central Catholic. From 2016-18, the Saints advanced to the semi state portion of the state tournament, but could not get over the hump. All that changed in 2019, and Lutheran found itself inside Lucas Oil Stadium with White at the helm. He threw for 216 yards in the state title clash, but when the dust settled, Lafayette Central Catholic celebrated with a 29-28 win. The loss snapped a 13 game win streak for Lutheran. And, it has given White all the ammunition he needs to excel in his senior season. “Last year makes me want to push myself harder than ever before. We were so close to being perfect, but now a new journey begins. It is my senior year and my last chance to become a state champion, so why not give it all I have and leave everything on the field,” White told Sideline Prep Sports Report. His 216 yards were a part of his 2,532 yards from a year ago. He also tossed 27 touchdowns to nine interceptions. For his career, White is 258-of-462 for 3,532 yards, 40 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He has been succeeding at the quarterback position since his dad tried him out at the position in the first grade. “Ever since then, I have never wanted to play any other position. It feels amazing to be acknowledged and recognized for the way I play. It took a lot of hard work to perform the way I do. There are no days off,” White said. And, that mentality is one reason why White is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the state and drawing the attention of several colleges. “Every week I watch hours and hours of film and talk with both my coaches and team to see what can we do to have the most success. Any of our individual successes came because we worked as a team. Preparation is key to winning,” White said. Entering his senior season, he tells Sideline Prep Sports Report he has one goal – to finish perfect. “We came up one point short last year, and it left a bitter taste. We want to complete this season 15-0. My personal goals are to continue to perfect my craft and become a more versatile player for both myself and my team,” White said. White has been hearing from a wide variety of schools from FCS, Division II, Division III, and NAIA ranks. “My main focus and goal in all of this is education. I want to attend a school with a high education system and football program that will lead me to the road of success in the future,” White told Sideline Prep Sports Report.
