When he got into football as an eighth grader in South Bend, Joshua Sales never imagined he would achieve all he has so far. The Brownsburg High School senior offensive lineman has only begun chasing the footsteps of Ronnie Stanley, who played at Notre Dame and is with the Baltimore Ravens. “Seeing Ronnie get drafted, I felt like that would be amazing,” Sales said. Sales, who stands 6-foot-6-inches and weighs 285, is currently the third overall player by 247Sports and is a top 10 player in Indiana by Rivals as a three-star recruit. “It’s honestly surreal being one of the best in the state. It’s honestly a dream come true,” Sales told Sideline Prep Sports Report of his accolades. As a lineman, Sales said he enjoys the physicality of playing in the trenches and the battle with the player across the line from him on every single play. That attitude is what pushes him to greatness, and he said growing up in South Bend and then moving to Brownsburg has also helped. “Me being where I’m at and in my position is something I thought was a possibility, but at the same time, growing up in the environment I did in South Bend, it’s not very common for people to make it in life. I would attribute my success to my work ethic and my willingness and ability to learn and get better. Also to my dad for pushing me to move to Brownsburg in Jan. 2019, as well as all my coaches at Brownsburg that have helped me,” Sales told Sideline Prep Sports Report. At 7-4 last season, Sales is confident Brownsburg will make a run in 2020. The Bulldogs, who are coached by John Hart, open the season at Ben Davis. Hart is sitting with 299 career wins. “The goals this season will be to win a state championship. Also for the team to play at its potential because we have a lot of great talent, and I know we can do it. For myself, I just want to be the best player and teammate I can be, as well as reaching the rank of four-star recruit,” Sales said. Currently, Sales has offers from Arizona State, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan State, Nebraska, Purdue, Rutgers, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kent State, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, West Virginia and Western Michigan.
